Northern pike reproduction
is usually fairly consistent
from year to year, without
exceptionally strong or weak
year classes in most years.
Angling prospects for northern
pike in 2011 should be similar
to recent years. A special
regulation for northern pike
went into effect on
Lake Vermilion in 2003.
The regulation is a 24-36 inch
protected slot, with one fish
allowed over 36 inches.
All northern pike 24-36 inches long must
immediately be returned to the lake.
The bag limit remains at three fish. mn-DNR
